Kyle Shanahan opens up on fractured relationship with receiver Dante Pettis

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan recently addressed media members to clear up rumors regarding his prior relationship with wide receiver Dante Pettis. Shanahan explained that past trade discussions and an eventual roster departure in November 2020 stemmed strictly from standard coaching rather than personal animosity, noting that the organization previously attempted to reacquire Pettis during training camp.

After subsequent stints with other franchises including a campaign with the Chicago Bears where he appeared in all seventeen games, Pettis has returned to San Francisco on the practice squad. Due to current injuries at the receiver position, he could potentially earn an elevation to the active roster.
