Kevin Vallejos is rooting for Alexander Volkanovski to retain his featherweight title against Movsar Evloev in Abu Dhabi this Saturday. Vallejos, who has won four consecutive fights, is set to face former champion Aljamain Sterling on November 21 at UFC Qatar.
He believes a dominant victory over Sterling would position him for a title shot against Volkanovski in 2027.
Vallejos, who holds a 18-1 professional record, expects Volkanovski's experience against larger opponents like Islam Makhachev to help him defeat the undefeated 20-0 Evloev. Meanwhile, Jean Silva, who recently submitted Jose Miguel Delgado after Yair Rodriguez withdrew, is also pursuing the title.
Vallejos maintains that even a decision win over Sterling would prove his readiness for a championship bout.
