Toronto Raptors forward Kawhi Leonard is facing a multi-week absence due to swelling in his left knee, according to Shams Charania. An MRI revealed no structural damage in the joint, but the team plans to use the recovery period to properly condition the player following offseason interruptions.
This medical setback rules Leonard out for the upcoming weekend matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers at Crypto.com Arena, as well as a scheduled visit to face the Los Angeles Clippers at Intuit Dome. Before being sidelined, Leonard contributed averages of 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals, and 1.5 assists across two appearances to begin the campaign.
Toronto opened its schedule with two double-digit victories before dropping a 117-94 decision to the Minnesota Timberwolves while playing without their star forward.
