Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt weighed in on the contentious conclusion of Saturday’s SEC showdown between the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs and No.
6 Alabama Crimson Tide, a 20–17 Georgia victory that hinged on officiating decisions. Klatt argued that Alabama’s final drive was derailed by a missed pass interference call that would have placed the Crimson Tide in field goal range, ultimately costing them a chance to tie the game.
Instead, Georgia’s Dijon Lee Jr. was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct—a penalty that set up the Bulldogs’ game-sealing first down.
Klatt also highlighted Georgia’s perceived luck in close games, calling the officiating in their favor a recurring theme in high-stakes matchups.
Despite the loss, Klatt emphasized that both teams remain among college football’s elite, with Alabama retaining strong national championship aspirations. He framed the Tuscaloosa clash as a battle between the two best squads of the season, suggesting the Crimson Tide still have the firepower to claim the title.
