Fifa president Gianni Infantino has signaled openness to distributing a larger sum of money to member associations from the organization's multi-billion-pound financial reserves. Writing to the six continental confederations, Infantino stated he supports maximizing additional financial support responsibly following pressure over his dropped commercial strategy.
Uefa and Concacaf recently urged the governing body to disburse specific payouts to all 211 members, a matter heading to the Fifa Council for evaluation next month.
The head of Fifa defended his abandoned attempt to sell stakes in soccer tournaments, which had drawn criticism and calls for his exit, insisting the scheme aimed strictly to boost football investment. Concurrently, Football Association leader and Fifa vice-president Debbie Hewitt previously demanded full transparency and an independent assessment regarding the scrapped venture.
Infantino prepares to contest a fourth term in upcoming elections, with rivals facing a mid-November deadline to present opposition bids.
