Former India opener Shikhar Dhawan has vehemently denied any involvement in the upcoming World T20 Continent Cup, after his name was mistakenly included in the Asia Warriors squad list. The tournament, set to take place in Hong Kong in December, had promoted Dhawan as a key player alongside Pakistan’s Iftikhar Ahmed and Sohail Tanvir.
However, Dhawan took to social media to clarify that his participation was never authorized, warning that legal action would be pursued against the organizers for the unauthorized use of his name. Following his statement, the organizers confirmed his withdrawal from the squad, citing scheduling conflicts and unspecified technical reasons without elaborating on how his name appeared in the initial announcement.
The Asia Warriors lineup now includes other retired cricketers such as Rahul Sharma, Dwayne Smith, Rubel Hossain, and Mahmudullah Riyadh, as the inaugural edition of the competition features four teams: Asia Warriors, Europe Champions, Africa Lions, and North America Eagles.
