The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has delayed its planned October 15 stakeholder meeting in Mumbai, which was intended to unite IPL franchise owners, team executives, broadcasters, and representatives from the 13 host states. The decision follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled felicitation ceremony for India’s men’s and women’s cricket teams—both of which secured gold medals at the 2026 Asian Games—set for the same day in New Delhi.
Senior BCCI officials, including those expected to attend the Mumbai gathering, will participate in the ceremony, complicating their availability. Additionally, the BCCI cited logistical requests from stakeholders to reschedule, aiming to maximize in-person attendance for discussions ahead of the IPL’s 20th season in 2027 and the upcoming player auction.
The meeting’s postponement leaves the revised date and location pending, while India’s ongoing T20I series against an unnamed opponent may also face travel adjustments due to the ceremony’s timing. The Asian Games saw India finish fourth overall with 21 gold medals, marking a rise from eighth place during the competition itself.
