India to wear BCCI jersey for historic Japan T20I as Asian Games kit issue finally gets resolved

India's men's cricket team will sport their standard board attire for a landmark Twenty20 International clash against Japan on September 22, rather than the multi-sport contingent gear designated for the Asian Games. While sizing discrepancies regarding the official Asian Games apparel supplied by JSW Inspire had previously caused delays for members of Shreyas Iyer's roster, officials confirmed the equipment difficulties have now been fully sorted out.

Because the Suzuki Cup encounter operates as an independent bilateral fixture rather than an official Games contest, the squad will save their continental tournament uniforms for their gold medal defense.

The upcoming match at Tochigi Prefecture's Sano International Cricket Ground marks the first men's senior international face-off between the two nations, functioning as the kickoff event for the "Sport 75" program honoring 75 years of diplomatic ties. Board secretary Devajit Saikia praised the landmark contest as an opportunity to expand cricket into fresh East Asian territory, while offering competitive tune-up opportunities before India begins defending the top podium spot secured at Hangzhou in 2023.
