Nearly a year after winning the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind, captain Deepika T.C. and her teammates are still awaiting promised government housing and employment support.
The players, who hail from diverse rural backgrounds, face significant daily challenges and lack access to proper training facilities or fitness guidance. While the team continues to struggle for state assistance, Hindustan Shipyard Limited recently provided a financial grant of 50,000 rupees to each squad member to aid their personal efforts.
This support was distributed during a ceremony held by the Sri Gurudeva Charitable Trust to honor the athletes for their historic tournament victory.
