The USGA’s updated GHIN app has introduced features designed to deepen golfers’ engagement with their game and their community. A revamped stats section now provides year-round performance tracking, offering detailed insights into scoring trends, birdie rates, three-putt frequency, and hole-by-hole breakdowns—tools previously reserved for professionals.
The app also highlights Handicap Index progress and advanced putting metrics, helping players pinpoint weaknesses like poor recovery from mistakes or conservative shot selection in rough terrain. Beyond self-analysis, the app’s GHIN Challenges feature, powered by Allied Golf Associations, lets users compete on local leaderboards using net scores, fostering friendly rivalry among the 30,000+ participants already involved.
With over 750 challenges available, the feature transforms casual rounds into competitive events, adding a social layer to the game while encouraging consistent play.
