Dumbarton Golf Club, a historic parkland course established in 1888, faces an uncertain future after Storm Boelo caused severe flooding. Aerial imagery confirms the site is largely submerged, with management noting that structural repairs to bunkers, bridges, and landscaping will be extensive and costly.
The club is currently working with local authorities to manage water drainage and has implemented reduced operating hours to mitigate financial strain. Support has been offered by neighboring facilities including Helensburgh Golf Club, Cardross Golf Club, and Clydebank and District Golf Club.
Tragically, the storm also claimed the life of 60-year-old Richard Baines, who died after being struck by a fallen tree near Castle Douglas.
