Hesson open to Pakistan Test job after England approach

Mike Hesson revealed that the England and Wales Cricket Board reached out through his representative to gauge his interest in their Test coaching vacancy following Brendon McCullum's dismissal in July. However, the former New Zealand head coach—who led the Black Caps from 2012 until 2018—reaffirmed his dedication to Pakistan, explaining that he typically honors five-to-six-year commitments before taking time away to recharge.

England ultimately filled the role by hiring fellow New Zealander Stephen Fleming.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan skipper Ramiz Raja reflected on the national team's recent eight-wicket loss at Edgbaston, noting that while the squad showed grit, inadequate preparation and internal turmoil damaged team morale. Speaking on BBC Test Match Special, Raja urged authorities to rethink their approach and prioritize red-ball cricket, pointing out that the subcontinent frequently neglects the longest format.
