Hadjar not happy with F1’s wet weather tyres after rain hits qualifying | Formula 1

Isack Hadjar expressed frustration with Formula 1’s wet-weather tire performance after qualifying fifth at the Brazilian Grand Prix, despite finishing seventh-quickest in the rain-affected session. The Red Bull driver noted that his team was penalized for two places due to penalties imposed on George Russell and Charles Leclerc, leaving him with a final grid spot that fell short of his potential.

Hadjar admitted his lap times in the first qualifying segment were just two-tenths of a second slower than teammate Max Verstappen’s, but the conditions deteriorated significantly by the final stage, forcing him to contend with slippery tracks and limited tire grip. He criticized the tires’ behavior in standing water, calling the aquaplaning risks excessive and the overall performance unsatisfactory for the challenging conditions.

Hadjar acknowledged that while Q1 was too hazardous for a race, qualifying allowed a test of the setup, though the session remained perilously difficult to navigate.
