Glamorgan beat Surrey to seal Divison One status

Glamorgan secured their top-flight survival and recorded a 184-run victory over Surrey, marking their initial red-ball triumph at the venue since 2014 and snapping a four-fixture stretch without a win. Chasing an unprecedented fourth-innings target of 612 after Glamorgan posted 132 and 594, the hosts folded for 427 despite Ryan Patel compiling 132 and Ollie Pope contributing 75 during a 168-run stand.

Zain ul Hassan broke through by dismissing Pope, while Mir Hamza removed Patel via a Ben Kellaway gully catch on the brink of lunch.

Surrey's middle order offered further defiance through Dan Lawrence and a 49-run partnership between Ben Foakes and Tom Lawes, but Glamorgan steadily dismantled the lineup. Timm van der Gugten, Mason Crane, Ray Toole, and Ul Hassan claimed two victims apiece, with Van der Gugten breaching the defences of Foakes and James Taylor while Crane trapped Lawes for 45.

The result earned the visitors 19 championship points to Surrey's three, completing a season double and confirming Division One cricket for the Welsh county next summer.
