Glamorgan beat Surrey to seal Divison One status

Glamorgan secured their top-flight survival in County Championship Division One with an emphatic 184-run victory against Surrey, recording their first red-ball triumph at the ground since 2014 and snapping a four-match winless stretch. Having posted 132 and 594 across their innings courtesy of Asa Tribe's 155 and Mason Crane's unbeaten 114, the away side set Surrey a monumental target of 612.

Ryan Patel led the hosts' defiance on the final day, hitting 132 alongside Ollie Pope's 75 in a 168-run stand, but Zain ul Hassan broke through by finding Pope's edge to Chris Cooke before Ben Kellaway took a gully grab off Mir Hamza to dismiss Patel right before lunch.

Surrey continued to crumble after the interval, with Dan Lawrence miscuing a reverse sweep off Kellaway to Tribe and Crane quickly bowling Adam Thomas. Timm van der Gugten then uprooted Ben Foakes' middle stump with the second new ball, Crane trapped Tom Lawes lbw for 45, and Van der Gugten bowled James Taylor to bundle the hosts out for 427.

Van der Gugten, Crane, Ul Hassan, and Ray Toole all finished with two wickets each in the innings, completing a season double over Surrey and collecting 19 points to the hosts' three.
