The New York Giants have traded for quarterback J.J. McCarthy from the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a future selection in the fifth round of the 2027 draft.
The young signal-caller, who previously played collegiately under Jim Harbaugh at Michigan, now joins John Harbaugh's squad to bolster depth following a major injury to starter Jaxson Dart. McCarthy spent time as the third-string option behind Kyler Murray and Carson Wentz after missing his rookie campaign with a knee injury and playing ten games the following year.
Meanwhile, veteran Jameis Winston recently stepped in after Dart's season-ending torn meniscus and MCL during a loss to the Rams. Winston struggled through a prior defeat before guiding the team to a narrow victory over the Titans, a performance that followed a recent contract extension signed earlier this month.
