Kevin Sumlin is returning to the state of Texas for his next professional leadership role, having accepted a position to direct the UFL franchise in Dallas starting in 2027. The organization is transitioning the roster from his previous assignment directly to his new club, allowing him to retain familiarity with the personnel instead of building a squad entirely from scratch.
Sumlin previously led the Texas A&M program for six years, peaking with a memorable eleven-win debut in 2012 before posting diminishing win totals through 2017. His subsequent stops included multi-year tenures at Arizona and the USFL's Houston Gamblers, alongside assistant duties at Maryland prior to his return to spring football.
