Former CU Buffs coach Rick Neuheisel to take over new Colorado UFL franchise

Veteran football mentor Rick Neuheisel is heading back to the Centennial State to direct a freshly minted professional squad in Colorado Springs. The incoming spring football outfit will begin play next year under the United Football League umbrella, utilizing the roster previously assembled during his time leading the Dallas Renegades.

This expansion effort brings the league's total footprint to ten clubs, with additional franchises landing in Rhode Island, Utah, and Oklahoma. Neuheisel previously directed the collegiate program in Boulder nearly thirty years after succeeding Bill McCartney, accumulating a thirty-three and fourteen mark during the late nineteen nineties alongside consecutive Cotton Bowl triumphs.

The local franchise will host its inaugural home fixture on Sunday, April eleventh, broadcast nationally on ABC. Team branding, including the official moniker, color palette, and visual identity, is scheduled for a public unveiling at the home venue, while preparations continue for the upcoming spring campaign.
