Get startedFlorida State’s coaching turmoil deepened as the program dismissed four-star cornerback Chuck Kennon from its 2026 recruiting class, citing conduct detrimental to the team. Kennon, ranked No.
70 nationally by Rivals, had played just one snap this season for the Seminoles, who are 3-3 overall and 1-2 in ACC play under head coach Mike Norvell. Norvell, who led FSU to an ACC title in 2023, has struggled since, posting a 10-20 record in league games and failing to return to postseason prominence.
The program’s instability extends beyond the field, with the athletic department facing over $430 million in debt and recent leadership changes, including the firing of athletic director Mike Alford in September. Despite a $51 million buyout clause in Norvell’s contract, his future remains uncertain as FSU’s on-field performance continues to decline, including a 44-20 loss to Louisville last week after a fourth-down turnover on the goal line.
Kennon, who also had an offer from Miami, starred at Booker High School in Sarasota and was removed from the roster as of Tuesday afternoon.
