The Florida Panthers have placed forward MacKenzie Entwistle on waivers with the intention of assigning him to the Charlotte Checkers in the AHL, per NHL insider reports. Entwistle, who did not participate in training camp or preseason due to an undisclosed injury, is not in the second year of his two-year, two-way contract with the Panthers, which he signed in June 2025.
The 27-year-old forward, who last played in the NHL during the 2023-24 season, had previously split time between the Panthers and the Checkers, recording five goals and 11 points in 49 games last season. Before joining Florida, Entwistle spent six seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks organization, appearing in 193 NHL games and tallying 15 goals and 35 points.
The Panthers have shown recent success on the waiver wire, having claimed impact players Cole Schwindt and Cole Reinhardt in the past year, while the Checkers have started the season with a 1-1-0 record, featuring strong offensive contributions from Nathan Smith and top prospect Jack Devine.
