Eilish McColgan secured her record fourth Vitality London 10,000 title by completing the course in 31:50 on Sunday, September 27, bouncing back after blisters caused her to exit the Great North Run two weeks prior. She finished ahead of Jess Warner-Judd, who clocked 33:13, and Kate Estlea-Morris in 33:58, successfully capping an unpredictable year that included a European record in Valencia, a broken toe at the TCS London Marathon in April, a withdrawal from the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, and a victory at the Big Half three weeks ago.
In the men's division, Kadar Omar Abdullahi captured his first title at the event by clocking 29:20 to pull away from Phil Sesemann, whose time of 29:39 placed him second ahead of Freddy Richardson at 29:53. Abdullahi's victory follows his win at the Big Half and caps a memorable September for the runner, who arrived in the UK as an Ethiopian refugee at age 13 and attained British citizenship earlier in the summer.
Additionally, David Weir claimed the men's wheelchair competition in 21:43 to secure his fifth victory at the venue and his third consecutive win, while Claudia Burrough took the women's wheelchair race in 29:10 over runner-up Ella Bouvard and third-place finisher Yasmine Hodkinson.
