Indian grappler Aman Sehrawat secured his first continental gold medal by defeating North Korean competitor Han Chong-song in a fiercely contested 57kg bout. Despite sustaining a cut near his eye and bleeding from his mouth during the physical encounter, the Paris bronze medallist successfully fended off late leg attacks to triumph with an 11-7 victory.
To reach the title match, the twenty-three-year-old athlete dominated his preliminary encounters earlier in the day. He began his tournament run by overcoming Yamoto Ogawa of Japan, followed by a decisive win against Nurdanat Aitanov representing Kazakhstan, and finally defeated Aiaal Belolyubskii from Tajikistan to advance.
