Dionisi set to remain in charge of Watford

Watford manager Alessio Dionisi will remain in charge for Saturday’s Championship clash against Charlton Athletic, despite a dismal run of form that has plunged the club into the relegation zone. The Hornets suffered a 5-1 thrashing at Cardiff on Tuesday, their fourth consecutive defeat, and have conceded nine goals in their last two matches.

Dionisi, who took over in June as Watford’s 12th permanent boss since the end of the 2020-21 season, has won just one league game since the start of the campaign, a narrow victory over Preston. His future was questioned after poor performances, including a 4-0 loss to Burnley, but the club has decided to retain him amid growing frustration among supporters over frequent managerial changes and the club’s broader direction under owner Gino Pozzo.
