The Atlanta Dream are facing an unexpected challenge as they prepare for their WNBA Finals showdown against the Golden State Valkyries: securing a suitable home venue. The team’s usual playoff arena, State Farm Arena—a 17,000-seat facility shared with the Atlanta Hawks—is already booked for Hawks games and a major concert on the nights of Games 3, 4, and potentially 6.
Despite selling out their five regular-season games at State Farm this year, the Dream have locked into a multi-year deal to play all future home games there starting next season, leaving their Finals home schedule in limbo. Options like Gateway Center Arena (their 3,500-seat regular-season home) are too small for the Finals crowd, while alternative venues such as Georgia State Arena, Gas South Arena, or South Lake Arena lack the team’s familiarity, raising concerns about comfort and logistics.
The Valkyries, meanwhile, will host Games 1, 2, and 5 (and Game 7 if needed) at their home Chase Center, leaving the Dream scrambling to finalize plans before the series begins.
