Brewers skipper Pat Murphy and Rays manager Kevin Cash will guide their clubs into the 2026 World Series, each chasing a franchise‑first championship. Murphy, who has only managed the Brewers and Padres since entering the majors in 2010, previously coached Arizona State to a College World Series appearance in 1998, where his Sun Devils edged Florida State 11‑10 in a high‑scoring game that featured a young Kevin Cash at first base for the Seminoles.
Cash went 0‑for‑5 in that matchup, and Arizona State later fell to USC in the championship, 21‑14. After another CWS trip in 1999, Cash signed with Toronto as an undrafted free agent and debuted in MLB in 2002, while Murphy’s MLB résumé remains limited to his two current clubs.
