Deion Sanders’ Florida State Dream Takes Hit As Ex-NFL Star Questions His Resume

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders faces new scrutiny regarding a potential future move to Florida State following commentary from Cris Carter on the Fully Loaded Podcast. Carter suggested that Sanders would be an ideal successor in Tallahassee if his current program were in better shape, but noted that a single nine-win season in Boulder might not justify the steep financial buyout required to replace Mike Norvell.

Sanders currently holds an 18-23 overall record with the Buffaloes after experiencing a four-win debut, a 9-4 campaign in 2024, a 3-9 finish last year, and a 2-2 start to the 2026 season. While Norvell remains under contract with a hefty buyout previously estimated near $46.7 million, Carter also floated former Seminoles leader Jimbo Fisher as an alternative candidate should the ACC program eventually consider making a coaching change.
