The San Francisco 49ers' wide receiver situation has taken another hit as Deebo Samuel is expected to miss at least a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. Samuel’s absence adds to the team’s receiver struggles, with Christian Kirk still recovering from a preseason hamstring injury and Demarcus Robinson currently on injured reserve due to a high-ankle sprain.
The 49ers will navigate their next two games against the Washington Commanders and Atlanta Falcons without Samuel, likely pushing him to the bench after their bye week. Meanwhile, the team’s depth chart has been tested further by linebacker Garret Wallow’s hamstring injury, which will also sideline him for an unspecified period.
On the positive side, defensive stars Nick Bosa, fullback Kyle Juszczyk, and defensive tackle James Thompson Jr. have a chance to return next week against Washington, though all remain in flux pending further evaluation.
The 49ers’ receiver group has already shown limited snaps in recent games, with Mike Evans leading at 36 and Brandin Cooks, Jacob Cowing, and Jordan Watkins all under 25.
