Chinmay Sutar has etched his name into the history books by becoming only the second player to record a quadruple century in the Ranji Trophy. Representing Mizoram in a Plate Group match, the 29-year-old remained unbeaten on 400 from 517 deliveries against Nagaland.
This remarkable feat echoes the legendary 1948 performance of Bhausaheb Babasaheb Nimbalkar, who famously scored 443 not out for Maharashtra before his opponents forfeited the match to prevent him from surpassing Don Bradman's record. While Nimbalkar never played for India, his innings remains the highest individual score in the history of Indian domestic cricket.
Sutar, who joined Mizoram from Mumbai this season, admitted he was unaware of the historical significance of his milestone until his team declared at 581/9.
