During the opening half against New York, Kansas City star Patrick Mahomes exited briefly after taking a heavy hit from defender David Bailey that resulted in a throwing-arm elbow issue. Despite visible discomfort on the sidelines while medical staff tested his arm, the signal-caller did not miss any plays.
He returned to action before the break, leading a drive that included a twelve-yard completion and a seven-yard run prior to an unsuccessful field goal attempt by teammate Harrison Butker. Through the first two quarters, Mahomes had connected on eleven of sixteen attempts for 120 yards and a pair of scores, building upon a strong campaign following his previous knee injury.
