Minnesota leader Cheryl Reeve secured a historic fifth WNBA Coach of the Year honor after guiding her squad to the top playoff seed through a 33-11 regular campaign. She captured forty out of seventy-four ballots, outpacing runner-up Natalie Nakase of Golden State and third-place finisher Sydney Johnson from Washington.
Celebration time was cut short, however, as the New York Liberty convincingly defeated Minnesota in the opening matchup of their postseason series. The team now faces an elimination contest in Game 2.
