A legal dispute has emerged ahead of the United States Grand Prix involving the technology used to monitor fuel consumption in Formula 1 vehicles. Sentronics Holdings LTD, which served as the official provider for the FIA from 2018 through 2025, has initiated a federal lawsuit in Texas against its successor, Allengra GmbH.
The plaintiff alleges that the sensors currently supplied by Allengra for the 2026 to 2030 period violate patent number 11,391,609, which covers specific methods for measuring fuel flow rates. Sentronics claims that its internal analysis confirms these newer devices utilize its protected intellectual property and is seeking damages for the alleged infringement occurring within the United States.
