Brett Yormark reveals how Big 12 could 'replace' championship game if CFP expands

Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark recently discussed plans to potentially substitute the conference championship game if future College Football Playoff expansion eliminates title matchups. Speaking during basketball media sessions, Yormark emphasized the importance of marquee athletic showcases for fan engagement, pointing to strong attendance numbers of eighty-six thousand spectators at last year's event alongside a television audience averaging nearly nine million viewers.

While the commissioner expressed a preference for staging a football-related showcase, he also noted that alternative entertainment concepts, such as a basketball competition, could fill the early December calendar vacancy.
