Brendon McCullum believes his relationship with Harry Brook has 'blossomed' over past 18 months

Brendon McCullum has praised his evolving professional bond with Harry Brook, noting that their collaboration as coach and captain has flourished over the last year and a half. Brook took over the leadership of England's white-ball squads in April 2025 after Jos Buttler's departure.

McCullum, who previously guided the Test team from May 2022 until July 2026, saw Ben Stokes retire from international play in June 2026. Before McCullum's Test tenure, England had won 15 and lost 22 of their 44 matches between 2019 and 2022.

Mccullum highlighted Brook's growth as a leader and his tactical skill, stating that he is highly respected by his teammates. This comes as England's white-ball teams navigate a tri-series in the subcontinent, where the ODI squad lost to Pakistan by 87 runs in Rawalpindi.

While the T20 team remains the top-ranked side globally, the ODI team sought to regain form ahead of their October 22 match against Sri Lanka.
