Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has secured his place in college football history by claiming the Big Ten Conference record for career receiving touchdowns. During a Saturday contest against the University of Southern California, the junior pass-catcher hauled in his 40th career scoring reception.
This milestone allowed him to surpass the previous conference benchmark of 39 touchdowns that had been held since 2004 by former University of Michigan star Braylon Edwards.
Shortly after the achievement unfolded in Los Angeles, Edwards recorded a public video message to praise the younger player despite their traditional rivalry. Smith had previously tied the historical mark on October 17 during a victory against the Indiana Hoosiers before claiming the top spot outright.
Already holding multiple receiving records for his own program, Smith continues to expand his collegiate legacy.
