Mohammad Kaif has expressed strong disapproval of Gautam Gambhir and Shreyas Iyer following India's choice to leave Bhuvneshwar Kumar out of the playing eleven for the fourth match of their series against New Zealand. During Friday's contest at Eden Park, the hosts amassed a massive total of 259 runs as almost every Indian bowler was heavily punished by the batting lineup.
Kaif argued that benching the veteran fast bowler was a hasty and unfair reaction since multiple teammates leaked runs at similar high rates and the series outcome had already been secured. Mayank Yadav replaced the experienced pacer in the squad, but Kaif believes management should have shown patience and allowed Kumar the opportunity to complete the full five-match assignment.
