Toronto’s first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is said to have undergone laser eye surgery in an effort to bounce back after a disappointing 2026 campaign in which he managed just nine home runs, a sharp drop from the 28‑average he has posted over his eight‑year career.

The procedure is being framed as a way to address the visual issues that may have contributed to his slump.

Veteran outfielder Kevin Pillar suggested that the lack of catcher Alejandro Kirk in the lineup hurt Guerrero’s production, noting that the missing protection behind him was a factor in his under‑performance this season.
