The Buffalo Bills have released safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson following his one-game suspension, ending his brief tenure with the team.
Gardner-Johnson was initially suspended for Week 8 after a Week 6 game against the Las Vegas Raiders, where he was flagged for spitting at an opponent. Though the suspension concluded, the team cited inconsistent performance as the primary reason for his release, noting too many questionable plays that left coaches questioning his role.
In six games, Gardner-Johnson accumulated 26 tackles, two passes defended, and one interception, though his production did not align with the team’s expectations. Damar Hamlin is now set to take over as the starting safety in Gardner-Johnson’s absence.
