
William Yale Giles, known for his showmanship and longtime leadership of the Philadelphia franchise, has passed away at the age of ninety-two. During his executive tenure spanning decades, he oversaw operations that brought multiple pennants to the city, orchestrated the arrival of star player Pete Rose, introduced the famous mascot, and hired broadcaster Harry Kalas.
His career also included executive roles in Houston and Nashville, following a family legacy in the sport established by his father Warren and his godfather Branch Rickey.
