Bear Bachmeier’s bad recruiting time with Notre Dame helped motivate

BYU quarterback Bear Bachmeier fueled his performance in a 28-24 upset of No. 2 Notre Dame with lingering frustration over his recruitment. Bachmeier, who received an offer from the Fighting Irish in 2023 before they pursued another passer, claimed the program treated his family with disrespect during that process.

During the victory in Provo, Bachmeier accounted for four total touchdowns. He recorded two rushing scores, caught a touchdown on a trick play, and threw the winning pass to tight end Walker Lyons with 1:47 remaining in the contest.
