The Board of Control for Cricket in India has selected Ramesh Powar to step into the Men's Selection Committee panel, taking over the seat previously held by Ajit Agarkar following the conclusion of his term in early October. This selection was formally greenlit by the Cricket Advisory Committee after candidate evaluations wrapped up in mid-October.
Meanwhile, Pragyan Ojha has assumed the role of Chairperson for the newly organized group, which also includes Shiv Sundar Das, RP Singh, and Ajay Ratra. Powar brings a wealth of playing and coaching background to his new duties, having previously managed the national women's squad to notable tournament finishes and worked at the national development center.
During his prior tenure spanning more than three years, Agarkar oversaw a highly successful era for the national team that featured multiple international championship trophies and continental tournament victories. The newly constituted panel will now look to maintain that competitive standard across formats.
Powar's past domestic coaching stints with state squads provide him with extensive familiarity with the first-class talent pipeline.
