The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is expanding its international portfolio by securing a multi-year contract to host the IndyCar Series starting in 2027. This July event marks the first time the American open-wheel championship has competed in Spain and its first excursion outside North America since 2013.
The venue will continue to host Formula 1 on a rotating basis with the Belgian Grand Prix through 2032, with races scheduled for 2028, 2030, and 2032.
This development provides five-time series champion Alex Palou with a long-awaited opportunity to race in his home country. Palou enters this new chapter as the reigning titleholder, having secured his fifth championship in six seasons during the 2026 campaign.
His career achievements include being the first Spanish driver to claim an Indianapolis 500 victory and a national American open-wheel title.
