Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli can seal his debut Formula 1 championship at the upcoming United States Grand Prix after securing a third-place finish in Singapore. The young Italian holds a 102-point advantage over team-mate George Russell with six rounds remaining, needing to leave Austin with a margin of at least 125 points to guarantee the crown.
To clinch the title at the next round, Antonelli must take victory while Russell finishes ninth or lower and Lewis Hamilton comes home fifth or lower. Although six competitors technically remain in contention mathematically, including Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, and Lando Norris, Antonelli holds the upper hand with eight race wins so far this season.
Both Mercedes drivers may face grid penalties in Texas if the team proceeds with planned power unit component changes and engine upgrades.
