Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian football legend noted that Mastantuono exhibits qualities that recall Roberto Baggio, Daniel Bertoni, and his own style of play.

Antognoni also characterized the youngster as a rare breed in modern football, likening him to a panda facing extinction due to the scarcity of traditional number tens in today's game.
