Answering Five Big Questions on Cal Before Saturday Night Showdown
The California Golden Bears enter their highly anticipated Saturday night clash with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons with key questions surrounding their quarterback situation. With starting quarterback **Jake Sagapolutele** still recovering from injury, his availability remains uncertain, though he is expected to be cleared in time for the game.
If healthy, Sagapolutele’s stronger arm and ability to stretch the field will likely be the preferred option over backup **Brandon Brousseau**, who lacks the same deep-ball threat but brings poise and decision-making. The Bears’ recent 25-20 home victory over Virginia Tech highlighted their aggressive defensive approach, particularly through relentless blitzing that disrupted quarterback **Ethan Grunkemeyer** and forced three sacks.
While that strategy proved effective against dropback passers, it may need adjustment for Wake Forest’s **Gio Lopez**, who presents a different offensive challenge with his mobility.
