Another major champion quits LIV Golf ahead of proposed relaunch

Graeme McDowell has announced his departure from LIV Golf, opting out of the circuit's planned relaunch following four years with the organization. The former US Open winner joins a growing exodus of competitors walking away as the enterprise navigates Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings and a withdrawal of backing from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.

Additional roster members including Ian Poulter, Tyrrell Hatton, Jon Rahm, and Sergio Garcia are likewise declining to participate in the revised league structure. Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy noted that the organization faces significant hurdles to recovery and no longer poses a major challenge to conventional golf hierarchy.
