Golf legend Annika Sörenstam and her husband, Mike McGee, recently faced off against their two teenage children in a casual match at Pelican Golf Club, just ahead of the LPGA’s namesake event set for November. Ava Sörenstam, a senior at Lake Highland Prep who joined the school’s golf team this fall, shot an 85 from the forward tees, while her brother Will, a left-handed golfer with ambitions of his own, carded a 75 from the tips.
Their parents, playing from combo tees at roughly 6,500 yards, finished with even par and 81, respectively. Will, who has already made strides in junior golf—finishing eighth in the FJT Tour Championship’s 13-15 flight with a final-round 69—has nearly matched his father’s height and plays annually with his mother at the PNC Championship.
Meanwhile, Ava, a softball player who also wields significant clubhead speed, has drawn praise from her mother for her dedication and skill, including the ability to hit par-4s in one and walk away with six-foot putts. Sörenstam, a 72-time LPGA winner, will return to host the event in Belleair, Florida, where top-ranked Nelly Korda will aim for her fourth title at the tournament, which runs November 12–15.
After the match, the family attended a Tampa Bay Buccaneers game, where Sörenstam met with longtime friend Aaron Rodgers in the EMaxx-hosted suite at Raymond James Stadium before Pittsburgh’s overtime win.
