Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese exited the regular season finale against the New York Liberty early after taking an elbow to the nose from Sabrina Ionescu just before halftime. Although Reese managed to shoot her free throws following the Flagrant 1 foul, head coach Karl Smesko held her out for the remainder of the contest as a precautionary measure.
Reese finished her limited action with six points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals during the 83-65 victory. Smesko later confirmed that the star forward was fully healthy and cleared to return during the game, choosing instead to avoid any unnecessary risks.
Consequently, Reese remains completely off the injury report and is ready to play in Game 1 of the opening round against the Washington Mystics. She caps off her campaign having led the WNBA in rebounding while averaging 16.4 points per contest.
