Kenneth Walker has continued his dominant start to the season with the Kansas City Chiefs, posting league-leading rushing averages of 6.2 yards per carry and 134.3 rushing yards per game over his first four appearances. The rookie running back has already amassed 99 touches in that span, including two games with at least 170 rushing yards and three games with 175+ yards from scrimmage.
His efficiency has extended to the scoreboard as well, with Walker crossing the end zone at least twice in three of those contests, helping Kansas City maintain a perfect 4-0 record through Week 5. The Chiefs’ Week 5 bye provided Walker with a brief respite before his next challenge against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, though his workload has remained heavy throughout the season.
Head coach Andy Reid, who had already seen Walker’s potential during the Seahawks’ playoff run, admitted he wasn’t entirely surprised by the rookie’s production, noting the extended opportunities have simply allowed him to showcase his full skill set in more consistent fashion.
