Andy Heck discusses an undrafted rookie's path to the starting lineup

Kansas City Chiefs offensive line coach Andy Heck recently addressed the media regarding the rapid ascent of undrafted rookie offensive lineman Kahlil Benson into the team's starting lineup. Heck highlighted Benson's physical stature, impressive versatility across multiple line positions, and competitive drive during offseason workouts that ultimately earned the coaching staff's trust.

Through his first two appearances, Pro Football Focus notes that Benson has surrendered zero sacks and only six pressures while committing two penalties.

Benson's football journey includes college stints at both Indiana and Colorado, culminating in his inclusion on the Indiana Hoosiers' 2025 CFP National Championship roster and participation in forty-nine total collegiate contests. Having impressed head coach Andy Reid and the entire coaching staff with his tenacity and adaptability, the young blocker has successfully translated his collegiate experience into an immediate impact at the professional level.
