Akron football remembers coach Jim Dennison and the bonds he helped create

The University of Akron recently paid tribute to former football coach Jim Dennison by gathering his family and members of the 1976 squad for a special campus reunion. Dennison, who passed away in January at age eighty-seven, compiled a distinguished career leading both Akron and Walsh University.

During the fall 1976 season, his Zips achieved a program-best ten-win campaign and reached the Division II national championship game before falling to Montana State. Decades later, former players and assistants remember his emphasis on positive mental attitude and lifelong personal bonds.
